Hamm Blasts Governor’s Budget as Out of Touch and Irresponsible
HARRISBURG – PA State Rep. Joe Hamm (R-Lycoming/Union) issued the following statement on Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposed budget spending increase, the largest Pennsylvania has ever seen:
“Gov. Tom Wolf has repeatedly failed Pennsylvania, and for his last budget address, he has confirmed his failed leadership.
“The governor is proposing an increase in spending of $6.2 billion, which is 16.6% over the prior year. This budget is simply out of touch with hard-working Pennsylvanians and fiscally irresponsible.
“At a time when spending is out of control in Washington D.C., Governor Wolf is trying to take Pennsylvania down the same disastrous road. Inflation has sky-rocketed to its highest rate in 40 years costing Pennsylvanians more in the grocery store and more at the gas pump. Harrisburg needs to be more responsible with taxpayer dollars and better prioritize spending. Governor Wolf’s $43.7 billion budget is why we should run the Taxpayer Protection Act so we can put guardrails up against excessive spending.”
“This proposed budget will lead to massive tax increases in our future. This Governor doesn’t care as he is leaving office in a few months so he won’t have to deal with the mess he is creating with this irresponsible budget.
“I will continue to fight for the Taxpayer Protection Act, a fiscally responsible budget and working to ensure future success for Pennsylvania.
